Zachary John Quinto was born on&nbsp;June 2, 1977 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is perhaps best known for his role as Spock in the current Star Trek&nbsp;movie franchise, as well as his TV roles as Sylar on&nbsp;Heroes&nbsp;and as&nbsp;Dr. Oliver Thredson on American Horror Story.

Mr. Quinto was raised in Green Tree, Pennsylvania, where he&nbsp;attended Saints Simon and Jude Catholic School. He graduated from the Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh in 1995 and Carnegie Mellon University's School of Drama in 1999.

Although primarily known for his work on screen, Quinto has enjoyed a successful stage career that started in California with roles in Samuel Beckett's&nbsp;Endgame&nbsp;at the Los Angeles Odyssey Theatres in 2003. He went on to perform in Shakespeare's&nbsp;Much Ado About Nothing&nbsp;at the Los Angeles Shakespeare Festival and in&nbsp;Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow&nbsp;at the Old Glove Theatre. He later&nbsp;gained great acclaim for his Off-Broadway debut as&nbsp;Louis Ironson in the 2010 revival of Tony Kushner's&nbsp;Angels in America, receiving a&nbsp;Theatre World Award for his efforts in 2011.

In 2013, he took on the role of&nbsp;Tom Wingfield in the&nbsp;American Repertory Theater's revival of Tennessee Williams'&nbsp;The Glass Menagerie,&nbsp;which led to a Broadway transfer and his Broadway debut later that same year. In February 2016, he returned off Broadway to star in MCC Theater's production of Smokefall&nbsp;at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.&nbsp;Quinto returned&nbsp;to the Broadway stage to take on the role of Harold in the 50th anniversary production of&nbsp;The Boys in the Band&nbsp;from April 30 through&nbsp;August 11, 2018.

On screen, Quinto had appeared in minor roles in various TV series, including The Others,&nbsp;CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,&nbsp;Six Feet Under,&nbsp;and Charmed&nbsp;until his big break came upon securing the recurring role of&nbsp;Adam Kaufman in Fox's hit series 24&nbsp;in 2003. He went on to appear&nbsp;in 23 episodes. His next big role would come in 2006 when he took on the role of Sylar in NBC's Heroes,&nbsp;appearing in 61 episodes through 2010. His career was launched into superstardom after landing the role of Spock in the new Star Trek&nbsp;movie franchise reboot, with the first film being released in 2009 and&nbsp;sequels Star Trek: Into Darkness&nbsp;and Star Trek: Beyond&nbsp;coming out in 2013 and 2016, respectively. Its bright stars are more than 20 songs by Bob Dylan threading throughout the Depression-era story that's now on stage at the <a href="/theatres/belasco-theatre">Belasco Theatre</a>.Following earlier runs at the <a href="https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/theatres/old-vic-theatre" target="_blank">Old Vic</a> in London and Off-Broadway at the <a href="/theatres/public-theater">Public Theater</a>, the show arrives on Broadway four years after Dylan, a singer-songwriter in a league of his own, won a Nobel Prize for literature and 14 years after his hits were woven into the short-lived The Times They Are A-Changin'.Written and directed by Conor McPherson, the Dublin-born author of&nbsp;The Weir&nbsp;and&nbsp;The Seafarer&nbsp;who knows his way around haunted characters,&nbsp;Girl from the North Country&nbsp;is in his wheelhouse. They're beautifully orchestrated and arranged by Simon Hale.Sandwiched between "Sign on the Window" and "Forever Young," which start and end the show, are the title tune, "Idiot Wind" and "Like a Rolling Stone." With audiences on three sides of a small, knickknack-laden stage, which actors frequently spill off of with instruments in hand, [*A Man of No Importance*](https://www.newyorktheatreguide.com/show/24233-a-man-of-no-importance-tickets) at [Classic Stage Company](https://www.newyorktheatreguide.com/theatres/classic-stage-company) perfectly captures the feel of scrappy community theatre in a church basement. That's a high compliment, to clarify. In fact, it's the entire point of the show, a stirring and gorgeous one in its simplicity.

The musical is set up as a play-within-a-play, with bus passengers in Dublin introducing the story of their conductor, Alfie Byrne ([Jim Parsons](https://www.newyorktheatreguide.com/stars-on-stage/jim-parsons)). They're all members of his amateur theatre troupe, save for the bus driver, Robbie (A. J. Shively), though Alfie hopes he'll join for more reasons than one. Alfie is gay; Robbie is not, but the next best thing to being with him, then, is convincing him to lead an Oscar Wilde play.

Wilde is, of course, a deliberate choice for the playwright that consumes Alfie's every waking moment. "Wilde had no life aside from art. Remember that. He lived in the realm of the aesthetic. He never descended into the sewer," Alfie says of his idol. He does the same thing, throwing himself into the theatre troupe to escape his desires, while secretly wishing the theatre will be his ticket to living his truth. (Alfie is urged on at points by Wilde's ghost, played by Thom Sesma, thoroughly enjoying himself.) It's a clever conceit, as *A Man of No Importance* is very aware of its own theatricality, and how performing Alfie's story shows acceptance in itself.

Parsons convincingly inhabits Alfie's earnestness and diffidence, if not his Irish accent. Alfie's intimate little story of self-discovery isn't quite big enough for all its characters, but each member of the ensemble shines in even the most underwritten parts. Shereen Ahmed is marvelous as the reticent leading lady Adele, and Mary Beth Peil's few lines as Mrs. Grace are some of the show's funniest. ("She's a little old [to play] me daughter, Mr. Byrne. Can she be me sister?" she asks of the decades-younger Adele.)

In stage time, Alfie is most evenly matched by his sister Lillian (a motherly, wisecracking Mare Winningham) who can't understand why he hasn't settled down. And Shively brings an effortless, mischievous charm to Robbie, lighting up the stage with "The Streets of Dublin," his energetic solo and the show's best number among a strong array of Irish folk tunes by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.

*A Man of No Importance* ultimately rushes to its end, but this being a 20-year-old musical whose writer (the late, great Terrence McNally) has passed, dwelling on that is fruitless. This revival — the first since its New York premiere in 2002 — has songs and performances that will rouse the soul, and that's of the utmost importance.

'A Man of No Importance' review — Jim Parsons leads a simple yet stirring revival

The Classic Stage Company (CSC) is a significant staple in the New York theater scene, situated in the heart of Manhattan's East Village. Hayes Theater - TodayTix

The Hayes Theater officially opened as The Little Theatre on March 12, 1912. The building was designed by Harry Creighton Ingalls and built by Winthrop Ames, opening with John Galsworthy's play *The Pigeon*.

During the 1920s, the theatre was redesigned by Herbert J. Krapp to increase the capacity from 300 to 590. The New York Times purchased the building in 1931, converting it to a conference hall under the name of New York Times Hall.

In 1979, Martin Markinson and Donald Tick bought the theatre and renamed it in 1983 to the Helen Hayes Theatre to honor the actress. A previous theatre bearing her name was demolished in 1982 to make way for the Marriott Marquis Hotel.

On April 18, 2015, it was officially announced that Second Stage Theater had purchased the property. It was later revealed that the venue would be renamed the Hayes Theater, and it opened in spring 2018. The Hayes Theater is the smallest Broadway theatre, now with 597 seats.

## How to get to the Hayes Theater on Broadway

The Hayes Theater, located on 44th Street between Eighth Avenue and Broadway, is closest to the 42nd Street - Port Authority subway stop on the A, C, and E lines. Additionally, the nearest bus stops are 8th Ave/W 46th St. on the M20 and M104 lines; 7th Ave/W. 44th St. on the M104 line; and 8th Ave/W 43rd St. on the M20, M104, and M34A-SBS lines.
